“The Dog From Ipanema”, 2006
Custom build-out of luxury grooming salon in high-end retail center in historic district. Documents passed Coral Gables historic design review.

Aqua Development Group Condominium Design, 2004
Zoning analysis, illustrative sketches of site development alternatives, and summary of relevant site and zoning issues for 5-story condominium in Little Havana in Miami, Florida. Included site design, building design, and individual unit design. All parking was hidden, and front elevation engaged street with monumental front stair from first floor lobby to sidewalk.

Corporate Offices With Tasting Kitchen
Conceptual design for corporate office in Manhattan. Program included offices, conference areas, tasting salon, and “Human Regeneration Modules” for visitors.

Event Venue Design and Review
Acting as a consultant to a team of financial and culinary experts, I review the architect’s design drawings, site photos, and relevant site conditions to evaluate if the configuration of proposed event and support services can be enhanced; I prepare an analysis of the proposed configuration, using sketches, computer-generated images, and text. Report format ranges from annotated photos, fast hand-drawn sketches, and informal notes, to fully illustrated reports with AutoCAD drawings. Projects include:

Planning
Onondaga County Settlement Plan/Master Plan, 1999

As a charrette team member for DPZ, I did the research and analytical drawings for the Camillus study. The sketches for roadscape preservation inspired the development, by Andres Duany, of a rural application of the “transfer of development rights” that was ultimately adopted into law.

Zoning Revision to Change Parking Configuration Requirements – City of Miami 2004
After observing the way that the Miami Zoning Regulations adversely impacted inner- city neighborhoods, I drew up a revision, showed it to city council members, and gave a copy to the team that was revising the code. My revision was adopted, with help from City Staff and the University of Miami, and became part of “Miami 21”, an award-winning city zoning plan, led by Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk.
The Wynwood Community Charrette, 1995
Collaboration with The University of Miami Center for Urban and Community Design (Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, Director) and University of Miami architecture students, The process involved community residents, the business community, government organizations, non-profits, and community-based organizations. Dean Plater-Zyberk led the Charrette.

Middleton Hills, Wisconsin New Town Charrette, 1992
(DPZ Design Team Member)
I was on the DPZ team for the Marshall Erdman charrette for a new town. 
Role: drafter and “go-fer” as required.
The South Pointe Charrette, 1993
(DPZ Team Member) This charrette was organized for a German developer who wanted to redevelop the southernmost tip of South Beach. Michael Graves, Robert Sterns, and DPZ all presented alternative schemes. 
Role: Working for DPZ, I coordinated the charrette logistics.


Historic Preservation
Cahn Block Schematic Design Recommendations, 2008

Research and analysis of preservation and development strategies for a city block of historic buildings in Meridian, Mississippi. Sketches, drawings, text, and appendices were bound into a formal report. The format was chosen to maximize clarity for use by individuals with different levels of preservation experience, including the Board of Directors, historic preservation agencies, and potential partners.
Role: Sole consultant and report writer.
Miami International Airport North Field Phase I Cultural Resources Study, 2006
Organized research, prepared text, drawings, and photos for documentation of the original Pan Am Field, required by the State of Florida Department of Historic Resources for Miami-Dade Aviation Department

Opa-Locka Airport Phase I Cultural Resources Study, 2004
Organized research, prepared text, drawings, and photos for documentation of the oldest part of the airport, as required by the State of Florida, for the Miami Dade Aviation Department
